The Trend Toward Co-Blogging and Blog Contributors

I first began blogging about two years ago. Up until that point I had not even read a blog. I began blogging to house my writing and share my thoughts. I never intended for blogging to become an important part of my life. I’m a wife with four kids and a business. That last thing I needed was another thing on my plate. However, soon blogging became a passion of mine. In my time on the blogosphere I noticed an interesting trend. Solo bloggers are starting to become group bloggers. The trend is not lost on me. I contribute to … Continue reading

Blogging Your Health: Pros and Cons

The other day, I was thinking long and hard about blogging your health: what to say, how much detail to give, who gets to read your posts. It’s a tricky issue, to say the least. Let’s look at some positives and negatives. The advantages of blogging your health can include: Ease. Make one post/update to your social networking site of choice and all your friends get the news at the same time. It’s quick and easy — and that’s good at a time when you may not have a lot of time and energy to devote to keeping everybody updated. … Continue reading

Blogging Your Health

We live in an age of information. Sometimes, it seems harder to disconnect from phones, email, and computers than it is to stay connected! So how much (or how little) personal information and experience do you put out there? Social networking sites have made it possible for anyone and everyone to find an audience of friends, family, coworkers, and even relative strangers. Again, the question of how much do you (or don’t you) say about your everyday life is important. This sort of thing is on my mind lately in regards to health. Do you talk about your health or … Continue reading

Suffering (and Coping) With a Slow Computer

Computer troubles and issues can be the plague of any business—but with a small home business, many of us depend on our computers as our sole resource. Yesterday, I had a slow computer day and it took all the self control I could muster not to have a major temper tantrum! I try to remind myself that there are other things I can do and that sometimes these little … Continue reading

Facebook: Social Ads and Privacy Issues

I may be one of the few people around today under age 60 who is not on Facebook. Many of my friends are on it. And there are even some people from my past. How do I know? I can look them up, even though I am not registered to the site. Of course, I can’t get any real information about them until I sign up and request their friendship. Recent news about this popular website, however, still doesn’t have me convinced I should join. Am I wrong? “Social” Ads Facebook announced, although very quietly, I’m guess so as not … Continue reading

Who Is Your Computing Blogger?

Who is that masked woman behind the screen? It is just humble (sic) old me, so humble I forgot to introduce myself! I have been having a lot of fun here in the computing blog since the 23rd of April. Normally, you will find me over in the Frugal Living Blog or any forum that has to do with saving money. But, truth be told, I’ve been a big computer geek for many years. Bloggers for Hire

Bloggers are changing the world. Once upon a time the big media outlets – television and newspapers – were the ones who owned all the information. Noam Chomsky, U.S. media and foreign policy critic, remarked, “the media serve the interests of state and corporate power, which are closely interlinked, framing their reporting and analysis in a manner supportive of established privilege and limited debate and discussion accordingly.” It is this interlinking relationship between traditional media and the powers-that-be that brings questions of murky motivations behind your “fair and balanced” TV news. Blogging has leveled the playing field. Anyone with a … Continue reading

Preparing for Technology Issues: Online Billing

Computers are almost a necessity these days. Everyone has one. There are many of us who use this technology to our advantage, especially when it comes to bill paying. I’m guilty of it. Paying bills and checking balances online is only a click away. What’s not to love about it? It’s easier and faster than worrying about putting a stamp on an envelope and then having to mail it. Not to mention, it’s less paper right? I know that in my house, less paper is a good thing! However, what would happen if your computer suddenly went cahoots on you? … Continue reading
