Home Based Work Benefits Parents

Many stay at home parents of young children plan to work more after their children are a little older and either going to school or being home schooled. Flexible Schedules Work For Parents

In the world of traditional work, your shift begins at the time when you are scheduled to be at work. Unless you call in sick or find a co – worker to cover some or all of your shift, there is little room for flexibility. If something happens and your daily routine gets changed around a bit, you may have to work when you are rather tired if the change affected your sleep. Working from home can be much kinder and gentler in that regard because many times, you are able to decide when you work. This makes working from … Continue reading

What Do Stay At Home Parents Need From a Home-Based Business Opportunity?

Not all home-based business opportunities are created equal, and since every person’s needs are unique, there is no single home-based business opportunity that can claim that it is a perfect fit for everyone. Schedule Everything!

I never realized how important a schedule was until I was a mom. When I became a single mother I found that schedules were even more important than I thought, and not just for Hailey, for me too. I soon discovered in the first months of craziness that is single parenting that I could not get a thing done. Laundry would be washed but not folded, dinner cooked but not cleaned up, grocery lists made but forgotten. Everything quickly got out of hand. I had to get my home life under control so I could make sure that Hailey and … Continue reading

Ways to Savor Summer Nights

While some parents are busy belting out “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” I am desperately trying to squeeze as much outdoor fun into what’s left of my daughter’s summer break. Classes resume next week and neither one of us is ready to say so long to the season. My family spends a ton of time outside during the summer months, and this year has been no exception, despite the record-breaking heat. Now that the new school year is about to start, we are trying to get in as many outdoor adventures as possible. Since I telecommute, I … Continue reading

The Part Time Homeschooler

In our area, the rents are astronomical. This means that many parents work outside the home. However, our area also has large and growing numbers of home learners. How do parents juggle the two? First, we have flexible work schedules. I work three days out of the week, but I am taking a morning off a week and using flex time to cover this. This means that I have an extra morning to do some home learning activities. We also use weekends and evenings. Now, since we’re fairly causal learners, we life learn on weekends and evenings as everyone does. … Continue reading

Everybody’s Sick! What Do You Do?

Two of my favorite people in the world welcomed twins into their family back in July. They are amazing parents — at least in my humble opinion. It certainly doesn’t seem easy to have twins, but they make it look good. This month, they both got sick. Some sort of upper respiratory crud — not the flu, hopefully, because everybody had their flu shots — that lingered on and on, sapping energy on top of making them feel miserable. I was talking to mom as they were starting to get better… and she commented that she practically hadn’t seen dad … Continue reading
