There are a lot of people getting rich selling home business opportunities to people who would like to earn a living, or contribute to the household income, while being available for their families. There are also sources that offer good information. Please research all home business opportunities carefully before spending your hard-earned money on leads or start-ups.

I have not done business with any of the sites listed below, so I cannot endorse any of their products or services (if any), but I did find good (free) information contained on these websites that should be helpful for anyone considering a home business.

Power Home Biz

The Power Home Biz site offers a large assortment of home business information including a list of ten characteristics shared by successful entrepreneurs. It features many articles on every aspect of home business, from ideas on the kind of business to start and ways to get financing to marketing ideas and ways to expand your business.

At-Home Works

Check out the Home Business Start-Up Center at At-Home Works. There is a lot of helpful information there for anyone that is considering starting a home business, from writing business plans to legal issues that you may not have considered.

My Mommy Biz

Self-proclaimed "the largest work at home mom site on the internet," My Mommy Biz offers information as well as forums for moms hoping to start, or already running, home businesses. Check out the list of at home business ideas on their Business Idea Central page.

Work at Home Mom (WAHM)

WAHM offers information, advice, and a place to network with other work at home parents. Sign up for the free newsletter, or scroll down the home page for articles on choosing a home business, getting started in business, patents, promoting your business, the work at home lifestyle, and lots of other information, as well as a link to their message boards.

*While some of these sites are geared toward moms, the information is valuable to everyone.

This is a great article Sherry. I'm glad you posted it. There are so many bad companies out there trying to take people's money with nothing in return. It's important to research any company you want to work for to the fullest extent before starting anything. Thanks for the great advice Sherry!

Absolutely, and there is a ton of good, free information available to research before spending money on "kits" that often provide the same info.

I wanted to add that in searching for an opportunity to earn money from home there are two ways to do it. Work at home, paid by the hour or service. And home based business, which requires an investment but can equal long term income. Make sure you know the minimum purchase requirements and what comes with it. One more thing, there's no such thing as get rich quick. You will work hard to earn high income. You will work less for less income. It's relative.
