Is There a Touch of the Visionary in You?

What does it mean to be a visionary-especially as it relates to running a home business? A visionary is someone who is forward thinking; a person who can keep at least one eye turned toward the future and who is always on the lookout for ways to make improvements and changes. A visionary is able to tap into imagination and creativity and come up with new ideas. Like anything, too much "visionary" can make a person dreamy and unrealistic, but a little dose of that dreamy imagination can be great for our home business operations.

Tapping into the visionary in you is a surefire way to imagine yourself to new ideas and inspiration. After all, it is our dreams and visions that can really motivate many of us to stick things out through the hard times. We all need a little irrational dreamer or we would probably have never taken the plunge and started our home businesses in the first place!

When you read stories or biographies of great entrepreneurs, coaches, and influential individuals (not to mention explorers and inventors), they all have a good deal of visionary in them. In fact, many are referred to as visionaries time and time again. It is this ability to imagine and create and look toward possibilities that makes them who they are (or makes them who they were.) Even if you are a factual, pragmatic, business-minded person, cultivating a little visionary attitude and perspective can help you get from your spreadsheets and daily task lists to the growth and risk it takes to build a small business.

Let yourself daydream a little each day-imagine what "could" be and get creative in where you would like to take your business. It may be the most productive "dreaming" you will ever do!
