Make and Sell Wedding Favors

Today, many brides and grooms are responsible for paying for their own weddings, which means many weddings require strict budgets. You can capitalize on this trend by making and selling lovely, affordable wedding favors. Since most items that feature words like "wedding" or "bridal" on the label tend to cost more than similar items, wedding favors are far less costly when someone takes the time to make them. The only problem is that brides and bridesmaids may already be pressed for time planning other details of the big day.

This is where you come in. You can create wedding favors from simple to elegant, and price them for less than typical wedding favors generally cost, yet still make a profit. You will need to learn what colors are going to be featured in the wedding and what style the bride and groom favor.

A good way to get started is making up a few different samples of favors. Bring a couple of these with you to appointments, and take quality photographs of other designs to show potential clients. Bring along some samples of fabric or other materials that show the range of available colors.

Ask a friend or family member to let you make the favors for their wedding. Attach a tiny sticker to the bottom of each one that includes your contact information.

Even if you gather inspiration from existing styles of wedding favors, make sure your designs are unique. Even if budget is not the main concern for the person planning the wedding, making wedding favors is a good way to make money if your favors are original and custom made. Custom design is a good selling point that insures the bride that her big event won't feature the same tired favors so often used at weddings.

Another option is creating centerpieces that coordinate with your wedding favors so you can offer a complete package.
