Home Based Work Can Adapt To Your Ever Changing Life

Just now, I noticed how many times I have arranged and rearranged my work schedule within the past week. Such a juggling act would certainly not be possible if I were working at a job outside of the home. One might think that constantly rearranging one’s work schedule could become stressful or tiresome. I have actually found the opposite to be true. Having the freedom to create a work schedule that works for me means that I am able to adapt to different work and family related situations as they arise. For example, one of my writing clients asked me … Continue reading

Another Day Another Way To Be Thankful For Home Based Work

It seems like every day, I find new reasons to be thankful that I work from home. Since every day in my life as a stay at home mom is slightly different, I have the opportunity to see my situation as a home – based professional from many different angles. Today, my observations in this area consist of two primary sentiments. Today’s first reason that I am thankful to be a home – based professional comes from my experience as a lawyer. I am thankful that as the owner of my own tiny little law firm, I am in control … Continue reading

What Does Working From Home Enable You To Do?

One of the things which sets home – based work apart from traditional work is that home – based professionals are often largely in control of the role that work plays in their lives. While this is not always the case, it is much of the time, especially in situations where the home – based professional owns his or her own business. If one or more of the adults in a household have the freedom to make choices about when and how much to work, it can help the entire family to achieve many things. For example, if one person … Continue reading

Are You A Freelance Writer? Have You Tried Blogging?

Whether you are new to freelance writing or you are looking to expand your skill set, I would like to recommend that you give blogging a try. You may be wondering whether there is a place for your unique voice in a group blog or collection of blogs. I know that I was asking myself that very question when I started out. The answer to that question does, of course, depend upon the individual and also upon what blogs are looking for writers and what kind of writers they are looking for. Nonetheless, I would like to encourage you to … Continue reading

Taking Time to be Thankful

I have two of the best co-bloggers I could want. Stephanie Romero and Sara Berthiaume provide intelligent, insightful and relevant content about the ins and outs of home business. Often I find our minds are on the same subject and our posts naturally complement each other. When our posts are not on the same subject we tend to round out the home business section making it a great resource for beginner and veteran home business professionals. We honestly do this without trying. We are simply three women with a passion for working from home and sharing it with others even … Continue reading

Thankful…Even If I am Working the Day after Thanksgiving

Yes, it’s the day after Thanksgiving and I am working. I don’t get to stand in a long line, waiting for door buster savings at my favorite stores…no Black Friday shopping for me. I didn’t get to sleep in very late. In fact, this week doesn’t feel much different than most weeks. The only way I was able to “take off” yesterday for Thanksgiving was to plan my work so that I would end up spending some of my Saturday doing it. Now don’t get me wrong…I am not trying to get sympathy. Would I rather be enjoying the day … Continue reading

Working on Thanksgiving – Just a Tiny Bit

There are ten more minutes left of Thanksgiving, so technically I am working on Thanksgiving albeit just a little bit. We hosted Thanksgiving, so even though I had done quite a bit of food preparation and cleaning yesterday there was a lot more to be taken care of today. Fortunately, I had the foresight to take that into account when planning my work schedule. I decided that one hour today (thanks to the odd hours I keep it is really more like early Friday morning) would be a reasonable amount of work to do. As I sit here still stuffed … Continue reading

Giving Thanks for My Home Based Businesses

Tomorrow is my favorite holiday, Thanksgiving. I love the idea of dedicating an entire day to reflecting on things that we are thankful for and spending time with loved ones. In fact, one of the things that I enjoy the most about it is that the arrival of Thanksgiving gets people in a grateful and appreciative mood before the actual holiday as well as during and after it. Today, I would like to join my fellow bloggers Richele McFarlin and Stephanie Romero in expressing thanks for my home based businesses. My two home based businesses have given me the freedom … Continue reading
