In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I decided to think about all the things that I am grateful for about my job as a Mother to my sweet little baby. Yesterday, one of my older children was sick. Teaching Your Children About Their Heritage

Today is a special day here in Utah, it is the day we come together as a community and celebrate our pioneer ancestors who settled here so many years ago. Children gather in the streets as they watch our biggest parade of the year. With floats, handcarts, horses, and wagons children cheer in excitement. This is a time for each of us to remember the great sacrifices they made as they continued on their journey west. I’m on kind of a rant tonight, I heard something that has just made me see red. I live in Utah, which is a wonderful place, I love it here, but what I heard today has made me mad. It seems that the schools don’t want the graduating seniors to talk about what colleges they got accepted to or what scholarships they received. Why, you ask? I’m so grateful that the stigma of being a single mother is gone. Wouldn’t it be terrible to be a single mother in the 30’s or 40’s? The visiting teaching message this month is about how we can be blessed through attending the temple. I have to say that I am not as good at attending the temple regularly as I should be. With little children at home, it is difficult to find the time, and to get a babysitter. However, that is no excuse for no temple attendance.
