For example, one of my writing clients asked me … Continue reading

That is, they were born in the summer and had their first months surrounded by sunshine streaming in the windows, the sound of birds chirping, and days spent wearing nothing but a diaper and a “onsie.” I made sure that they had Fourth of July outfits ready, even though one of them arrived a week after the holiday. I guess he just wasn’t interested in the parade. Do you have a summer baby, too? We had a lot of new information to share this past month, such as recall notices and new … Continue reading

Holographic Telecommuting – Is It Really As Cool As It Sounds?

It appears as though the future of telecommuting is almost here. Researchers at the University of Arizona have developed a means for displaying 3D videos in real time – the holographic display. The exact science is far to complicated for me to attempt to wrap my brain around it, but from what I understand, it involves multiple cameras, fast-moving lasers, and photo reactive plastic. Oh, and a screen. A small screen. For some reason, all of this excitement is squeezed onto a small screen. What does all of this have to do with telecommuting? Currently, the holographic video technology can … Continue reading

Media Review: Adoptive Families Magazine

Adoptive Families is a comprehensive bimonthly adoption magazine which covers all types of adoption—domestic and international, infant and older child, open, semi-open and confidential, and adopting from foster care. I have found the coverage to be very well-balanced among the different types. In the past two years I have canceled several magazine subscriptions because I don’t have time to read them. Adoptive Families, by contrast, is read cover to cover before I go to bed the day it is delivered. The magazine is written almost entirely by adoptive families. There are sections of advice from experts such as counselors, social … Continue reading
