Write Those Ideas Downby Kori Rodley Irons | More from this Blogger 06 May 2007 06:03 PM I am a constant brain-stormer and idea generator. I imagine for most of us who are operating home-based businesses, we are often thinking and brainstorming--trying to come up with new ways to work, market, or be more efficient at what we're doing. However, unless those ideas get jotted down, they can easily be lost into the air and we'll never be able to take advantage of our fine thinking and problem-solving! Keeping a notebook or notepad handy to write down ideas as they come up is important. I've also known people who jot things into their lap tops or other mechanical calendar devices. I have even known a couple people who call their own voice mail and leave messages to themselves when they come up with great ideas or remember things that are work-related. I always thought this was a cool way to literally remind oneself of things (although I'm not real keen on listening to my own voice, but if it wasn't an issue for person, why not leave yourself a message?). One of my issues in terms of keeping track of business ideas can be organization. Writing things down on snippets of paper and napkins just doesn't cut it. I find them months later and can't remember what in the world I was hoping to accomplish. So, for me, I keep everything in cheap, spiral notebooks. This goes for phone messages, article ideas, lists, business solutions, etc. That way, I know where to go for all the notes I've left myself. Sometimes, however, just the very act of taking an idea from my brain and writing it down on paper helps me to remember it. The important thing is to not let all those good ideas you are generating get away. Who knows? You just might have come up with the greatest way to make a million dollars or solve world hunger--you'll definitely want to hang on to that snippet of brilliance!
