For those of us who are at the beginning stages of a home-based business, maybe even trying to figure out what sort of a business to start and whether or not we are even cut out to embark on such an adventure, a little advice about how to search out and find the right fit might be in order. It might be a good idea to start with your favorite things--those things you love to do, hobbies, and interests--these passions might lead you to a great home business idea.

Look around your world and make a list of those things you absolutely love to do--what are those hobbies, interests, pastimes, etc.? Love to watch movies? Could you write movie reviews for your local paper or an online web site? Are you someone who loves to garden and work outside? Why not start your own landscape business? Can you see how figuring out what your favorites are and brainstorming your passions can lead you into a business, industry, or line of work?

Think outside the box and search for an unmet niche--it doesn't have to be just day care and house cleaning. Do you have a special knowledge or know "insider" things about a particular industry that you could take advantage of? If you are an expert in exotic house plants or orchids--could you turn that into a home based business enterprise?

Of course, not every interest and hobby will lend itself to a home business idea and there may be those things in your life that you want to keep as just for fun. Still, building a business around something that you really enjoy can be a great way to come up with a business concept, and know that you will be interested in and passionate about your work.
